Clint Wilkins

Clint Wilkins has a long and distinguished career in education—in both independent and charter schools and as a social entrepreneur. Early in his career he was as a teacher, coach, college counselor, dean of students, principal and assistant headmaster at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC. After serving as chief executive officer of two outstanding independent schools on both coasts, he became the founding head of Sage Hill School, the first nondenominational, independent high school in Orange County, California. Over the course of his career Clint has also served as the principal of a charter school in Oakland, as a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University School of Education, and as an Associate with the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at Oxford.

Currently Clint is focus as an “Encore Fellow” in the Mayor’s Office in San Jose is to develop a mentoring component for San José Works, a workplace internship program for underserved youth ages 14-18. He has served on a number or nonprofit boards, including most recently San Francisco Friends School, Next Generation Scholars and One Percent for Education. Clint received his BA from Williams College in history, a master’s degree from Harvard University in religion, and his secondary school teaching credentials at Princeton University.

Michael Saunders

Michael Saunders is an Encore Fellow working on the Community Trust in Policy Project with the City’s Independent Police Auditor. In addition to his work with the City Michael maintains a network of Websites that examine and aggregate interesting ways that nonprofits, foundations, governments and social enterprises can work together to contribute to vibrant and healthy communities.

Michael has worked in a variety of roles in systems engineering, marketing, competitive analysis and business development with IBM and Reuters. He’s performed organizational change consulting with Price Waterhouse Coopers and Towers Perrin.

Michael also served as Executive Officer for HandsNet, a nonprofit information clearinghouse. HandsNet delivered technology services and online access to human services organizations across the country. He has been on the board of TechSoup Global, a nonprofit enabling corporations to deliver discounted technology products to nonprofits in the U.S. and NGO’s in over 80 countries around the world.

Michael has a degree in Engineering and Applied Science from Harvard College and an MBA for the Stanford Graduate School of Business in Finance and Strategic Management. He lives with his wife Leslie, puppy Moses and cats Skylar and Shadow in Willow Glen.

Susan Nash

Susan is working as an Encore Fellow with the San Jose Mayor’s Office and the Department of Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Services to develop San Jose’s Age-Friendly City program. She is also a Visiting Scholar at the Stanford Center on Longevity, working on a project to teach digital literacy to older adults. Susan spent two years as a Fellow at the Stanford Distinguished Careers Institute and is a former litigation partner in the law firm of Munger, Tolles & Olson. She received her J.D. from Stanford Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

Tim Haifley

Tim is a mayoral fellow assigned to Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services. Tim retired after 47 years in industry as an engineer and statistician, finishing with 16 years at Altera Corporation (acquired by Intel in 2015). Tim holds a BS in Mathematics from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and an MS in Biostatistics from the UCLA School of Public Health.
