Adopt-a-Park or Trail

Community members are able to take an active role in the beautification of their community through adopting parks and trails.

San José has over 200 city parks, so volunteers help is vital to enhancing the work of park staff. Volunteering in city parks is a healthy, outdoor activity, in the fresh air and sunshine.

Interested volunteers can be individuals, families, friends, groups or neighbors. Parks can be adopted by one or more entities, as there is always something to do!

  • When can I volunteer? Volunteers are welcome at the park when it is open: 8:00 AM to 1/2 hour after sunset.
  • Volunteers help with different landscaping, maintenance, and beautification projects.
  • All materials are provided.
